PH: The next great e-commerce opportunity

FOR those keeping a close eye on emerging trends in Asia, the southeast portion of the region is tantalizing for both e-commerce and payments companies, particularly in one nation: the Philippines.

Despite advances in technology, the Philippines is still very much a cash-based society. More than 51 million adults remain unbanked, which accounts for a staggering 71 percent of the adult population, according to a financial-inclusion survey from Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas.
