THE Department of Health (DoH) has asked the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to withdraw an advisory to its citizens about an "increase in the number of diphtheria cases in several regions in the Philippines."

Travel Alert Level 2 was issued through the US Embassy last Wednesday. This means that Americans in the Philippines are advised to exercise "increased caution" by "being aware of heightened risks to safety and security."
