HIV discrimination? PAO appeals to high court

THE Public Attorney's Office (PAO) has petitioned the Supreme Court on behalf of a man with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) who accused two doctors of discrimination when they allegedly refused to attend to his tooth problem upon learning of his medical condition.

The HIV victim, aided by PAO, filed a petition for review on certiorari. He sought for the reversal and setting aside of a Court of Appeals (CA) ruling and a high court decision finding Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 116 Judge Richard Pascual of committing 'grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction' when he ruled in favor of Dr. Sarah Jane Mugar and Dr. Mylene Guevarra-Igrubay.
