'Career over course in college'

INSTEAD of choosing a college degree that they think would land them a job quickly after graduation, incoming college students should think of a course that will lead to a long-term career, an expert said.

Seasoned guidance counselor Arlene Macatuggal, director of the Mapua University Center for Guidance and Counseling, said students should think of the professional and personal journey they want to pursue before they even zero in on a specific course.

Students should set their sights on a career path and assess if a specific course can pave the way to their target profession — not just long-term financial and professional growth, but also personal fulfillment. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
