Ex-UN chief Ban makes surprise trip to Myanmar

BANGKOK: Former United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon paid a surprise visit to military-run Myanmar on behalf of a group of elder statesmen that engage in peacemaking and human rights initiatives around the world, a South Korean diplomat said on Monday.
