ISTANBUL, Turkey: Yildiz Tasdelen, a 65-year-old retiree, is one of the residents of Istanbul in northwestern Turkey who volunteered to build portable, ready-to-use houses for the survivors of the massive earthquake that struck the country's southern region in early February.
While varnishing the exterior of a tiny house at a convention center that has been converted into a construction site, Tasdelen said he came every day to work on whatever was needed for the project.
