THE construction and building sectors need to adopt newer, cleaner ways of building if they are to decarbonize their processes in an effort to decrease consumption of planetary resources while still maintaining an efficient and productive value chain.

'The planet's resources will not be enough to build, and the way we used to build in the past must be changed,' said Horia Adrian, chief executive officer of building solutions provider Holcim Philippines, during the recent rebranding of their flagship blended cement to Excel ECOPlanet. 'Construction is one of the industries contributing to carbon emissions and global warming. If we don't change, we will run into more difficult problems and consume more natural resources in the past.'
