Peso, stock market cap week with gains

THE peso and the stock market closed a shortened trading week on a positive note with the currency stopping just short of returning to the P55:$1 level and the benchmark index moving back to 6,500 territory.

The peso strengthened by 19 centavos to close at P56.02 against the dollar, while the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) added by 74.09 points, or 1.15 percent, to end the day at 6520.44.
