THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has assured the families of Filipino workers in Taiwan that contingency plans are in place to ensure their safety, including their immediate evacuation, in the event that the tension between China and Taiwan turns violent or erupts into a full-blown war.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Jose de Vega of the DFA's Migrant Workers' Affairs said on Tuesday that the contingency plans have long been set up by the Philippine government not only in Taiwan, but also in other countries with internal conflicts.
