Carabao, boat races bring cheers to festival

CAUAYAN, Isabela: Twelve farmers herded their carabaos in the buffalo race while six two-member teams strutted their wares in the boat racing competition in a recent twin event, a part of the city's Gawagaway-yan Festival, which ended at the Hacienda de San Luis ecotourism park in Barangay San Luis here.

Danilo Robles, a 53-year-old farmer who was also the champion in the last carabao race two years ago before the pandemic, came home victorious by beating his 11 other competitors.
