FOR the first time since 2006, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been eliminated from the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs.

The New York Islanders clinched the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference after beating the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 at the UBS Arena at Belmont Park, New York on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).
