5 private army members die in Cotabato shootout

POLICE on Wednesday announced that they had neutralized five members of a private armed group who had resisted arrest and traded shots with them in Tulunan town, North Cotabato province, and seized high-powered guns and explosives from the gunmen.

BGen. Jimili Macaraeg, police regional director for the Soccsksargen Region (PRO-12), said Danny Lamalan Cabakungan and his men opened fire when police officers were about to serve search warrants against Cabakungan for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
