CHINA rejected the call of the Philippines and the United States to comply with the 2016 arbitral ruling on the South China Sea (SCS), maintaining that it is "illegal, null and void."

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Wang Wenbin on Wednesday said China has "indisputable sovereignty over the South China Sea Islands and adjacent waters."
