US-China rivalry makes balancing act challenging

THE Philippines is doing a delicate geopolitical balancing act that is made more difficult with tensions running high between the United States and China. Manila is poised to strengthen its defense cooperation with Washington to protect national interests, but the government should also avoid antagonizing Beijing somehow.
