AN online open letter posted by the Future of Life Institute, a nonprofit whose advocacy is to 'reduce global catastrophic and existential risk from powerful technologies,' is urging a six-month moratorium on training artificial intelligence (AI) systems more powerful than the GPT-4 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 4), the most advanced learning technology so far.
