THE Gospel at the Blessing of the Palms is from Matthew. It starts with the intriguing story of Jesus ordering his disciples to untether an ass and a colt with her. He instructs them to give the rather imperious reply to whomsoever asks what they are doing: "The Lord has need of them." Jesus is Lord, Jesus is king, and like kings he arrogates unto himself the power to sequester means of transportation.
Throughout the Gospel, the theme of Messianic Kingship rings forth with unmistakable clarity.
