49K marine officers to gain from EC recognition of PH seafarers' certificates

MORE than 49,000 Filipino marine officers and their families stand to gain from the decision of the European Commission (EC) to continue recognizing certificates issued by the Philippines, Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista said on Saturday.

Bautista said the Commission's decision confirms that the concerned government agencies have adequately addressed many of the findings of the European Maritime Safety Agency (Emsa).
