Motorcycle lanes in EDSA, other roads eyed

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is considering implementing motorcycle lanes on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and other major thoroughfares following the success of the scheme on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

"Right now, the MMDA is studying its feasibility on EDSA, the implementation on Commonwealth Avenue is successful, meaning that it will help in lessening road crash incidents and secondarily easing the traffic flow along Commonwealth, then Commonwealth may be used as a template in implementing it in major thoroughfares such as EDSA," MMDA spokesman Melissa Carunungan told The Manila Times.
