MALOLOS, Bulacan: The Environment and Natural Resources Office (Benro) here rescued a juvenile Philippine scops owl in Sitio Manggahan, Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan on Thursday, March 16. Benro department head Atty. Julius Victor Degala said that they received a call from a concerned citizen identified as Eliza Bazco who saw the bird on their premises. The scops owl is approximately six inches tall and 700 grams in weight. According to Degala, the rescued scops owl is considered to be an endemic species in the Philippines. He also encouraged the public to report this type of wildlife capture to the authorities immediately. The owl was then immediately turned over to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto, Bulacan.
