Repairs on leased property

Dear PAO,

I recently left home to pursue new challenges in my career and the first thing I did was to look for a cozy place to stay. I found a three— bedroom house and decided that I am going to rent it. As this is my first time entering into a contract of lease, I'm wondering who is responsible for fixing any issues or damage the house may have.
