UN 'doing everything possible' to extend Black Sea grain deal

UNITED NATIONS: Martin Griffiths, the United Nations' undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, said on Friday the world body was doing 'everything possible' to ensure the extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The initiative came into force on July 22, 2022, when Moscow and Kyiv separately signed in Istanbul a an agreement with Turkey and the UN on grain and fertilizer exports from Ukraine and Russia to ensure supplies to global markets amid the war between the two East European countries.
