Fertilizers and geopolitical conflicts

I HAVE mentioned several times in my past columns how the three Cs — Covid-19 pandemic, conflict and climate change — have negatively impacted the global food system.

The way geopolitical conflict has impacted global agriculture, however, can be far more reaching as regional wars and unrest also restrict the flow of essential inputs for growing food, particularly inorganic fertilizers.
