AUSTRALIA, through its ambassador in Manila, said it aims to become a "more capable" defense partner in the region with its plan to enter into a security pact with the United States and the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Hae Kyong Yu said that "Australia is investing in capabilities to meet the challenges of our strategic circumstances and ensure the Indo-Pacific remains stable, secure and prosperous."
