THE peso returned to P55:$1 territory while the stock market fell all the way to the 6,400 level as a US banking crisis spooked investors.

The currency weakened by 15 centavos to close at P55.08 versus the dollar, and the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 151.12 points, or 2.31 percent, to end the day at 6,393.33.
