LUCENA CITY: Students and young professionals in Barangay Barra in this city can avail of free use of internet, print and photocopying of educational materials through the Barra TECH4ED Center project of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairman John-Jhon Ramos. Ramos explained in a phone interview on Sunday that they received three units of laptops and one printer unit from the Department of Information and Communications Technology in December 2022. The project started operation on March 7, 2023. Ramos said the project aims to provide the educational needs of students in their village. Student residents need only to book an appointment for the use of the laptop with internet and free printing of educational materials for up to five pages. P1 shall be charged after five pages, said Ramos. The same rate applies to photocopying. The center is located inside the barangay hall and is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Ramos and fellow SK officers will render services to the young students of the village. The use of the TECH4ED is also open to nonstudents, especially those who need to print resumes and other job requirements, added Ramos. He added that the service shall be exclusive to residents of their village. Barangay Barra has recorded 2,000 young voters during the 2022 elections, noted Ramos.
