THE Iloilo City Government provided 10,000 housing units to informal settler families (ISFs) after the city has been selected as one of the first in the country to avail of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero ISF Program for 2028 or the 4PH Program of Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD). A memorandum of agreement was signed by DHSUD Undersecretary Samuel Young, Mayor Jerry Treñas, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, DHSUD OIC Regional Director Eva Maria Marfil, Pag-IBIG OIC VP for Visayas and Mindanao Noli Armada, Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. Jojo Ang, and Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office head Roy Firmeza on February 28. 'Together with DHSUD, we will have a total of 15,000 housing units for informal settlers, as this has been the dream of the city government to have a decent housing project for the Ilonggos,' stressed Mayor Treñas. He added the City Hall had been land-banking a total of 13-hectare land out of the P200-million loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines. The project aims to give ISFs the right to live with dignity and to sustain affordable housing. The initiative also seeks to fulfill the housing backlogs by 2028. The city government, DHSUD, and Pag-IBIG committed to building more housing units and offered support and assistance to implement the housing loan program for the city's target beneficiaries.
