Suspects in Adiong ambush arrested

(UPDATED) CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The police arrested three individuals on Friday in Kalilangan, Bukidnon, including two alleged suspects, for the ambush of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong last month.According to a police report, the arrested suspects were identified as Palawan Salem Macalbo, 34; Nagac Dimatangkil Baratomo, 38; and Amirodin Dimantingkal Mandoc, 29.Col. Reynante Reyes, police provincial director of Bukidnon, said that two of the arrested individuals were positively identified as among those who allegedly attacked the convoy of Governor Adiong in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.The three individuals, who the police said are members of a lawless armed group, were arrested for cases not related to the Adiong slay try.Reyes said that the suspects did not resist when law enforcers, armed with warrants, entered their hideout in Kalilangan Friday morning.The police also recovered two M16 rifles, hand grenades and rifle grenades from the suspects.The suspects are now detained at the Kalilangan Municipal Police.On February 17, A group of around 10 armed men ambushed the convoy of Adiong, killing four of his bodyguards. The governor and two of his staff survived the gun attack but suffered gunshot wounds.On March 2, three suspects who are still at large — Lomala Baratumo, Oscar Gandawali and Acsanie Hadji Salic — were charged for their involvement in the assassination attempt on the governor.The three were charged with four counts of murder, three counts of frustrated murder and 22 counts of attempted murder before the Marawi City Regional Trial Court.
