(UPDATE) THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Thursday that it will no longer use the 98,000 vote counting machines (VCMs) in the 2025 midterm elections, noting that their technology standard was already obsolete.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the poll body will no longer procure new VCMs but would rather lease them.
