Modernization subsidy could be raised – DoTr

THE Transportation department is looking to increase a government subsidy for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers to make it easier for them to purchase modern units.

A day after transport groups began striking in protest over the government's plan to phase out PUVs that are 15 years or older, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said the current P160,000 subsidy could be raised to P260,000.
