Treat the climate emergency as an emergency

TWO pieces of news in the past week provided a shocking assessment of the impact of climate change and an alarming forecast of where things are headed. The term 'climate emergency' is frequently, and sometimes glibly used, but the recent news item adds near real-time dimensions to it, confirming in a stark way that it is indeed an emergency, and that the country should respond to it as such.
