Five ways to communicate climate change more effectively

CLIMATE change poses the biggest threat to humanity today, and we must communicate the severity of the issue effectively. Unfortunately, it is a complex and multifaceted problem that makes it difficult for people to understand and appreciate its full implications. In my decade of work in climate change, here are five ways that one can use to communicate climate change more effectively.

First, use clear and concise language. One of the most essential strategies for communicating climate change is to use clear and concise language, and by avoiding technical jargon and scientific terminology that may be difficult for people to understand. For example, the 'big numbers' such as global average temperature targets and carbon dioxide concentration do not relate to people's day-to-day experiences.
