Lawmaker proposes submarine cables

DINAGAT Islands Rep. Alan Ecleo urged his colleagues to support his bill that mandates the building of a submarine electric distribution network from mainland Mindanao to the Dinagat Islands.

Ecleo's House Bill 6624, which was filed in December 2022 and is now pending before the House Committee on Energy, will address the rotating blackouts and severe electric supply regulation caused by issues between the National Power Corp. and Petron. The latter fuels the lone diesel power plant in the Dinagat Islands.
