World Wide Fund seeks declaration of WPS as marine protected area

THE Philippine branch of the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature has called for the declaration of the disputed West Philippine Sea (WPS) as a national Marine Protected Area.

In a statement posted on social media on Monday, the WWF also cited Dr. Ben Malayang 3rd, governance expert, to urge the government to declare the disputed waters as a protected seascape and to be included into the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
