INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr. has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to intensify operations against loose and illegal firearms and ensure maximum police visibility amid the attacks carried out against elected officials in the past weeks.

In an interview on the sidelines of the 'Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) Bayanihan ng Mamamayan Fun Run and Service Caravan'' on Sunday, Abalos said he has directed the PNP to intensify the campaign against private armed groups (PAGs) and illegal or loose firearms in the country, especially in Mindanao.
