Globe engineer receives Asean outstanding award

A GLOBE engineer who leads the rollout of new technology has been awarded the 1st Association of Southeast Nations (Asean) Outstanding Young Engineers Award 2022 for his contributions to the advancement of the engineering profession, his company and the region.

The award was conferred on Globe's Network Strategy and Technology Enablement Head Gerhard Tan at the 40th Conference of the Asean Federation of Engineering Organizations (Cafeo 40) held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Candidates underwent a comprehensive and demanding evaluation process, which assessed the impact of their implemented projects on nation-building, community service and extension works, career and people development, academic excellence and published research, and contributions to professional organizations. This resulted in the recognition of just three exceptional engineers — Tan and counterparts from Singapore and Cambodia,

'I am deeply honored to receive this award and grateful to Globe for providing me the opportunity to work on innovative projects that have a positive impact on the community. I believe that as engineers, it's not just about creating new technologies but also about using our skills to create solutions that improve people's lives. I am committed to continuing to work toward this goal,' Tan said.

'Gerhard's passion, dedication, and expertise are a testament to the high-quality work that our team at Globe is known for, and we are grateful to have him as a leader in our company. His award is a reflection of his hard work and commitment, and we are excited to see what he will achieve in the future,' Globe SVP and Network Planning and Engineering Head Joel Agustin said.

Tan has over 16 years of experience in technology strategy, network solutions, access network planning, and radio network engineering, including the planning, design, implementation and pre-optimization of large networks.
