A consumer group criticized the move of Sen. Lito Lapid to include tobacco smuggling under Republic Act 10845 or the Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act, saying it is anti-Filipino.
Malayang Konsyumer (MK) spokesperson Simoun Salinas said Lapid filed Senate Bill (SB) 1812 seeking to amend RA 10845 to insert tobacco and tobacco products and place them in the same category as rice, sugar, vegetables and essential food items entitled for protection against smuggling.
