THE proof of the pudding is in the eating. In other words, to prove a buzzword or management theory is to apply it in real life. You don't learn something then drag your feet or worse, throw the lessons away. If modifications are necessary, adjust along. To put it another way, you can't learn to swim by reading a book.
That's why I can't understand one organization that recently hired me to teach kaizen problem-solving. After a fast-track activity, 86 operational issues that were causing losses were discovered. These involved invisible waste, product defects, high inventory, inefficient systems, and other related factors. Five projects were then chosen and assigned to groups.
