Hockey superstar Ovechkin loses dad

VETERAN National Hockey League (NHL) superstar forward Alexander Ovechkin has announced the death of his father, Mikhail Ovechkin, at the age of 71.

'Today I lost my father,' Ovechkin wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday from Russia. 'I thank everyone for the support but please be understanding and do not disturb my family in this difficult time for us. Thank you.'
