AN infectious disease expert believes that the recent discovery of the XBF Omicron subvariant and other subvariants in the country would not pose a threat in terms of severity even if they can cause increased transmissibility and immune escape.
In the latest sequencing report from the Philippine Genome Center from February 7-9, one case of the XBF variant has been detected in the country, while two local cases of XBB 1.5 have also been detected.
