IT is often said that ships connect the world and that shipping keeps global economies afloat. Commodities, raw materials and other essential products are transported from one country to another until shelves are filled and necessities are satisfied.

Amid the global recognition of the maritime industry, however, is a group of people toiling behind the scenes, seemingly obscure to the consumers at the end of the supply chain.
