THE container deposit is a critical concern among freight forwarders, truckers and customs brokers across the globe, with industry stakeholders accusing shipping lines of unfair practices because the charge was imposed on them without consultation and goes against the grain of best industry practices.
In addition, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) already agreed to sign a tripartite deal on May 11, 2022 to share the data from the PPA's digitalization initiative to generate real-time information on shipments and cargoes in the Trusted Operator Program-Container Registry and Monitoring System (TOR-CRMS).
