DANNY Rayos del Sol, the only known ostrich egg sculptor in the Philippines, finally had the courage to show his paintings in public with the launch of "Luna," his eighth solo show.

The head of National Committee on Art Galleries, a sub-commission of Cultural Heritage of National Commission on Culture and the Arts, used to work on portraits, landscapes and dancing ladies 23 years ago. His paintings, however, were forgotten and tucked away in dusty attic of his home in Taguig after finding his niche in the art world. He never knew he would rekindle his love for paintbrushes until today.
"This is my first painting exhibition. For me this is like attempting the absurd because I painted before – two decades ago – but there are a million and one geniuses in painting whereas I'm the only ostrich egg artist in the Philippines. Now, tinapangan ko na ang apog ko so pinakita ko na din," Rayos del Sol admited to The Sunday Times Magazine in an interview.
