AT least 132 Catholic Church institutions have joined a growing chorus of opposition to a large-scale mining operation on Sibuyan Island in Romblon province, according to the Catholics Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Among these institutions are dioceses, archdioceses, prelatures, apostolic vicariates and social action networks, including Caritas Philippines.
