PROPERTY developer Megaworld Corp. and De La Salle University (DLSU) have successfully inaugurated the Dr. Andrew Tan Data Science Institute (ALTDSI) at the McKinley Microcampus at the Venice Corporate Center, Taguig City.
The institute is named after innovator and brand builder, Dr. Andrew Tan, Megaworld's chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman.
ALTDSI will offer courses that will focus on human capacity building and equipping more businesses, firms and industries with data processing and analytics capabilities.
Megaworld donated the institute's state-of-the-art facilities. These will support students in the undergraduate program Minor in Data Science, and professional courses such as Introduction to Machine Learning, Foundations of Data Science, Data Preparation with Python, Supply Chain Analytics and Fundamentals of Data Analytics.
DLSU faculty-researchers and visiting professors will be tasked to sustain ALTDSI research-based graduate programs, undergraduate programs, and training and professional courses.
'As a purveyor of creativity, innovation and excellence, it is our hope that ALTDSI will encourage more learners and prepare them for a bright future in data science,' said Kevin Tan, Aliance Global Group CEO, which is the parent company of Megaworld.
'I would like to express my appreciation to the officials who led the event: Megaworld Premier Offices Vice President Eric Enriquez, Megaworld Foundation President Francis Canuto, De La Salle University President Br. Bernie Oca FSC EdD and former De La Salle University president Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC, PhD,' Tan added.
