DAVAO CITY POLICE LAUNCH OFW DESKS IN STATIONS

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) had earlier launched overseas Filipino workers' (OFW) desks at all police stations in the city. The OFW desks aimed at catering to the concerns of OFWs and soon-to-be OFWs are now open in all police stations. DCPO spokesman Maj. Catherine de la Rey encouraged OFWs to go to the nearest police station if they have any related concerns. She said the police stations will coordinate with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). De la Rey said that this is an advantage to Davaoeños living outside the city centers where services to OFW are primarily located. The initiative is also being implemented nationwide so even police stations in other areas provide the same service. 'Concerns are much easier to address because this is a partnership between the office and other agencies,' she said. De la Rey added that national government offices such as OWWA and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration assigned dedicated personnel to answer inquiries and concerns relayed by the police stations. Apart from the OFW desks, the city also currently has a referral office for the OFW Families' Welfare and Crisis Center.
