MITSUI O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL), one of the largest shipping companies in the world, becomes the first Japanese company that has committed to using zero-emission fuels on its vessels.
This comes after MOL joined the shipping sector of the First Movers Coalition (FMC) during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held from Jan. 16-20, 2023.Shipping companies participating in this sector have committed to using zero-emission fuels for at least 5 percent of their deep-sea shipping by 2030.The FMC is an initiative launched by the World Economic Forum and US Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry on the occasion of COP26 in November 2021.
