CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: For four consecutive months since October last year, power rates in the province have gone down because of strict implementation of energy dispatch protocol, high production of renewable energy resources like hydropower plant and wind power farm and the lesser use of emergency power procurement contract, the local power cooperative here said.

Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco) general manager Humphrey Dolor, in a text message on Tuesday, said the total amount of the power cost reduction is P2.40 per kilowatt hour (kWh).
