227 crime suspects nabbed in Batangas in 7 days

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas City: The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Batangas has apprehended 227 crime suspects in a week's operation across the province, according to a report by Police Provincial Office (PPO) director Col. Pedro Soliba to Police Regional Office Calabarzon director BGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

Calabarzon groups the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

From Jan. 11 to 17, 2023, 102 drug suspects were caught in 90 operations conducted by the PPO.

Seized from the suspects were 85.74 grams of shabu and 167.1 grams of marijuana with a declared value of ₱611,658.

During the period, warrants of arrest were served to 43 wanted persons, who are now behind bars.

Eighty suspected illegal gamblers were also apprehended in 39 operations during sweeps conducted by the Batangas provincial police.

Bet money amounting to ₱17,664 was confiscated from the gamblers.

During the same week, two loose firearms were confiscated from two persons, who were also arrested.

'Amid the internal cleansing program within the PNP, we will continue fulfilling our mandate of serving and protecting the community. Expect your PNP to exert more efforts in implementing the law,' Soliba said.
