DoH defends salt iodization program

THE Department of Health (DoH) has defended the implementation of the salt iodization program of the government, noting that it remains a 'successful and cost-effective' measure in addressing iodine deficiency.

The statement comes after several lawmakers have called for the abolition of Republic Act 8172, or the 'Act for Salt Iodization Nationwide' or ASIN law, saying it had caused the death of the salt industry in the country.
