Never has the lowly bicycle been thrust into the limelight following the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. With the need to stay healthy and the spiraling gas prices resulting from the Russian invasion, the bicycle has emerged as a healthy and cheap alternative mode of transport. In this interview with The Manila Times on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, Mike Serrano who heads a local biker's group and a consultant for the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has called on the private sector to promote the two-wheeled vehicle as an active mode of transport and to create a 'bike friendly workplace'.
